Just us girls

Hi all,

Doug and the older kids are now about to begin their long flight over the ocean. They left about 9:00 this morning for the airport. It was very hard to see them go and we pray that they get home safely.

Julia and I moved to our new "home." They have a crib that they are letting me use free of charge. That is a nice perk. Her nap went well in it, but waking up was hard. She didn't remember her new environment and was upset until we went outside. (Apparently motor scooters and horns are familiar!)

There is a park across the street so we spent some time there. All of these women kept stopping and asking me questions. I am learning that when speaking to someone who doesn't speak any English, repeating myself 100 times doesn't change that fact. I have no idea what these women are saying and don't know whether to nod my head, smile or shake my head no. Maybe they are upset with me for having this little girl outside snacking on cereal, and I am nodding my head in agreement. Who knows?

I miss the others a lot and am hoping that everything works out so that we can get home before the 17th/18th. After today, I realize that transitions are still a little difficult for Julia, so I want to get her to her real home soon.

Thanks for checking in,

Barbie

Barbie,

This is the first day but one less to spend until you're reunited with Doug and the other kiddos. Instead of thinking of how many more to spend without them, think of one LESS without them...kind of the glass half FULL mentality...

Love and prayers,
Cindy

Barbie and Julia,

Grandma Atkins is on her way to Minnesota as I speak (and Aunt Cindy is typing it for me on the blog). Rest assured that I have lots of hugs and ideas to keep Helen and Thomas busy until you guys get home.

I'm looking forward to seeing you and Julia upon your arrival in Minnesota. Praying every day for that to come quickly in God's perfect time.

Hugs and prayers,
Grandma A.

Hey girls,

I know that today had to have been a challenge for you girls but it sounds like you have overcome that challenge with minimal problems.

I sure do hope that you guys do return home soon and keep hoping for some word that that will come true.

I am glad that you have mastered the street crossing. That is an adventur in itself. Congratulations! :o)

Take care and I can't wait until your happy return home.

Heather

Hey, Barbie. Make sure that the blog doesn't sound too upbeat. People will get the idea that I'm not important (or it will simply reinforce the idea).

Love you...Doug
